Internet Filters - Feature Comparison Matrix
This website was developed by Lori Ayre and continues to be maintained by The Galecia Group on behalf of all libraries who need to find a filter to use in their library. Any vendor can list their product but they have to complete the survey developed by us to get their product listed.
The feature listing highlights many of the things that libraries most care about when they need to implement an Internet filter, such as:
- Libraries need to be able to very accurately block content based on the Internet Use Policy
- Library staff must have an easy way to override blocked content
- Libraries need to make sure their patrons know when a site has been blocked so they have to option to get it unblocked
- Libraries need to be able to create different profiles for different groups of patrons (e.g. adult unfiltered, adult filtered, teens, children)
