The Galecia Group works with libraries in a variety of ways to address technology and systems issues that are an integrated part of the library landscape.
We help the library prepare for the future. Libraries are changing but the needs of their customers are changing even faster. We work with libraries to help plan the changes that need to be made. Often these changes include rolling out more self-service opportunities, beefing up the library website with 2.0 technologies such as blogs, RSS feeds, tagging, and recommender services. Determining what changes to make where and how to get started can be overwhelming. We're here to help you make it happen.
We consult. Consulting takes on many forms. We assist with technology planning, software and hardware selection, RFP development. We evaluate current systems, make recommendations to optimize delivery systems and workflow, and we analyze how your library uses and manages technology. We advise on which technology to use when.
We help design public access computing environments that make sense for today's users. A good public access computer should be enjoyable for the patron -- not frustrating. We'll ensure that your computers are secure, easy to maintain and a pleasure to use. We're familiar with all the current vendor-provided solutions and can help you select and configure something that makes sense for you and your community.
We provide research. Many projects require a first step of researching the options, providing environmental scans, and exploring new ideas. We'll work with you to provide the background material you need to make good decisions and we'll undoubtedly bring you some great new ideas to consider. We'll give you an opportunity to think outside the box while making good, solid decisions based on state-of-the-art knowledge.
