Project Summary

Infopeople is a state-wide project that serves as the training arm of the California State Library, primarily serving libraries throughout the state. Infopeople's online and webinar students hail from libraries across the United States and several other countries, numbering in the thousands.

Infopeople sought out The Galecia Group for assistance architecting a new website and back-end event registration management application to help their staff administer a training program producing hundreds of online and in-person events per year. The existing site, built on Drupal 6 and UberCart, was highly customized and hard to maintain. The Galecia Group proposed a complete rebuild of functionality using Drupal 7 and CiviCRM 4, providing a unified event browsing, registration, and administration experience for Infopeople customers and staff.

Project highlights included:

  • Successful migration of dozens of nodes, thousands of legacy event management records, tens of thousands of user records, and thousands of media files into a new Drupal 7 site
  • Successful implementation of CiviCRM 4 with CiviEvent to provide a custom event registration experience for customers and event management for staff
  • Creation of a new responsive-design website template to promote mobile experience as well as desktop users
  • Development support operations including the migration of dozens of websites to a new, scalable, and cost-effective cloud-based hosting environment

The Galecia Group continues to provide support and development for Infopeople's Drupal environment.
